What is Kambo? The essential guide to Kambo- https://thethirdwave.co/psychedelics/kambo/ Kambo is the secretion of the Phyllomedusa Bicolor, a bright green tree frog native to the Amazon. The secretion contains a complex cocktail of peptides that produce incredible benefits for the body and mind.
There is a legend that tells that the members of an Amazon tribe became very ill, and their Pajé (medicine man) had done everything that was possible to cure them. All medicinal herbs known were used, but none helped. Pajé decided to enter the forest, and under the effects of a sacred plant medicine, he received a visit from the Grandmother spirit. She brought in her hands a large green frog, from which she took a white milky secretion and taught Pajé how to use it. Returning to the tribe and following the vision that he had received, he was able to cure his people. After his death, the tribe believed that his spirit passed into the frog, and they began to use its secretion to stay active, healthy, and strong.
Uses Tribes in the Amazon refer to Kambo as "Hunting Magic" as it strengthens the physical body as well as the mind and is believed to remove negative energy (panema.) Kambo is not considered a medicine in the western sense, but many people have found relief from physical ailments. Kambo has analgesic properties that have the potential to provide pain relief up to 4000x more potent than morphine without the addictive high that comes from opiates. Many that suffer from autoimmune diseases such as Fibromyalgia have found incredible benefits. Psychologically, Kambo has shown great attributes in aiding people with depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
What to expect during a Kambo session? The only safe application of Kambo is through small blister points made on the skin. The burn is superficial, with only the top two layers of skin being removed, allowing Kambo to enter the lymphatic system through these "gates." Typically 3-5 gates are opened for a basic session. The client will be asked to drink no more than one liter of water before Kambo is applied. Once applied, the immediate effects are quick and intense but short-lived, usually ending in about 20-25 minutes. Within 30 seconds to a minute, the client will experience a warm flushing sensation over the entire body. The heart rate may increase slightly with a light throbbing sensation in the head. The lips, ears, and tongue may go numb and tingly and may also be accompanied by a feeling of dizziness or lightheadedness. The sensations last about 5-7 minutes, followed by 10-15 minutes of flu-like symptoms where the client may feel weak, achy, and nauseous. Because of the water consumed, the purge is typically smooth and without a great deal of discomfort. After the purge, the flu-like symptoms dissipate rather quickly, and the client is usually left feeling relaxed and may even be washed over with a feeling of euphoria. After about 30-45 minutes of rest, the client will gain strength and energy back into the body and will be able to continue their day as normal. The benefits of Kambo will be experienced in the following hours, days, and even sometimes weeks following.
